China's stainless steel plate meets eu's "provisional anti-dumping"

The European Union has imposed provisional anti-dumping duties on cold-rolled stainless steel panels from China and Taiwan, with a maximum duty rate of 25.2 per cent, reporters were told yesterday. China's ministry of commerce stressed that the eu should properly resolve trade frictions and differences, rather than resort to trade remedies.

The eu has imposed provisional anti-dumping duties on imports of cold-rolled stainless steel from China and Taiwan, ranging from 10.9% to 25.2%, depending on the company. At the same time, the European Union's steel industry federation is in the preparatory stage of anti-dumping complaints against Chinese steel products. The eu said the duties were temporary and a final decision would come after an investigation that ended in September.

In this regard, the ministry of commerce of the People's Republic of China pointed out that since last June, the European commission has frequently launched trade remedy investigations on imported steel products, involving China, the United States, Japan, the republic of Korea, Russia, India, Taiwan and other trading partners. We believe that, with the eu's economic recovery still unstable and the world economy facing many difficulties, the eu should strengthen economic exchanges and cooperation with other countries, provide more development opportunities for their industries and properly resolve trade frictions and differences, rather than resort to trade remedies at every turn. For the case under investigation, full consideration should be given to the enterprises' defense opinions and a fair decision should be made strictly in accordance with wto rules.
